Music traverses many language barriers and is universal in it’s emotion/feeling. It’s a language all cultures and all walks of life can understand, even when lyrics combined with the sonic soundscapes aren’t native to the listener.

Mikeneko Homeless is a Japanese duo that works on music influenced by electronic/progress house, hip-hop, trap, and R&B.

Found on Maltine Records, the duo of Mikeneko Homeless combines Hironica and Mochilon into a versatile music producing machine. Their remixes and other tunes are well polished, combining various textures, styles, and languages.

This track is constructed utilizing heavy vocal manipulation, percussion, and whining synth work. The amount of vocal manipulation, cuts, and stutters no doubt took countless hours to make the finest of details vibrantly work. It’s damn near impressive how successful and addicting the results are.

It’s a whizzing combination of trap, trapstep, hip-hop, and pop curiously woven together to evoke the wildest of listens.

Somehow, the transitions from each section work fluidly. Even though the lyrics are in Japanese, they work here perfectly; the language of the Japanese is consonant heavy so it cadences perfectly to groove on top of the accompanying track. The Japanese lyrics become percussive this way – it’s also most likely why the vocal manipulation works so well on it’s own as it dances around in pitches and stutter rhythms.

Sonically – wow – what a powerhouse.

You can literally hear every influence of the EDM genre – there are elements of juke, garage, trap, dubstep, hip-hop and even pop. It’s electric how seamless Mikeneko Homeless they weave in and out of the heavy, deep and powerful verses, to the glittery pop laden choruses.

Even if you can’t understand the lyrics, in your ears it all processes together into an addictive listen – one that grows with each repeat; you just have to listen to it more and more.
