There’s a new kid on the block who’s combining glitch, funk, soul, and hip hop to create a hypnotic head bobbing love-child of a sound that deserves to be heard. His name? Marvel Years.
Producer and guitarist Cory Wythe AKA Marvel Years is pushing the boundaries of the future funk genre with his dance floor smashing originals and remixes.
With a sound that’s definitely reminiscent of GRiZ’s tunes, Marvel Years dropped “Whistle and Bump” to ears around the world, and it’s a show stopping tune that’s guaranteed to turn out any dance floor.
With a full-bodied sound, “Whistle and Bump” immediately jumps into things with charged and fuzzy synths, fat horns, wah-laced guitar, and downbeat heavy drums that beg your body to move.
As the groove continues, Snoop Dogg’s verse from the Dr. Dre classic, “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang”, fold in and melt with the incendiary beat. As Snoop’s timeless verse wraps up, things head higher and hit yet another notch on the funk spectrum as Marvel Years brings out some warm buzzing synths to further build the tune.
As Wythe’s guitar shreds its way through the track’s background, horns blasts shout as synths coalesce to create a banger of a track that you absolutely have to check out.
