Rustie is Glasgow producer Russell Whyte.
Known to be a unique electronic producer, the Scottish producer is a part of the “maximalist” genre (akin to TNGHT, Hudson Mohawke, Lunice, Flosstradamus etc.). His first LP Glass Swords, on Warp Records, received huge critical acclaim and earned many top spots on multiple end-of-the-year lists.
His new album Green Language picks up where Glass Swords left off.
The sound is more polished, more vibrant (mantis shrimp colors anyone?), and paces well. The first single off this album is “Raptor”.
Immediately, the sweeping synths pound into your ears… and we’re off!
No doubt, a song to pump anyone up and clicks, bleeps and bloops its way until the fading end. Heavily influenced by hip-hop, the trap elements keep the vibrant synths nodding forward.
As one of the leaders in the maximalist genre, “Raptor” shows the music world who is still king.
