Let’s delve into who is Fred Dope, an individual who ignites the soul and commands the body to move around the globe, headquartered in the vibrant dance music community of Milan, Italy. When playing out Fred Dope finds himself keeping the vibes right at renown clubs around Europe, like ocean and pool side at the illustrious Medasia Playa in Malta, where acts like Claptone and Pete Tong grace.
Cast your mind back to the early 2000s, when Fred was a precocious 13-year-old with an unwavering passion for music. By the time he reached the age of 18, he was already a force to be reckoned with, dominating the clubs of Milan with unparalleled skill. His prowess even earned him the coveted opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Oliver Huntemann, when techno was Fred Dope’s main dish.
Recently, Fred independently released his latest weekend starter, ‘All I Wanna’ as a free download that is nothing short of banging and decadent. This tech house opus captivates listeners with its intricate layers, infectious rhythms and unapologetic message.
When we asked Fred Dope about the sound design and direction behind the release he shared, “with ‘All I Wanna’ I wanted to create a real club banger that could be played in different type of parties. I started from the groove and bassline and then I found the perfect vocal for it thinking about a motif/anthem that could stick into people’s mind after the first time.
I’m continuing to release music that I make thinking about my fans and the people that go into the clubs today, trying to not converge into current trends (techno/hypertechno and minimal tech house) because I think there is a need of maintaining a certain level of variation/movement and freshness into tracks and not make just the drums drive the rhythm.
As the year goes through and following the supports received by international DJs including Swanky Tunes, I’ve more lined up including a release on May 8th of a Future House/Dance track and other club bangers through the year, as well as new remixes of 90s classics!”
‘All I Wanna’ follows Fred’s rework of a Bee Gees’ ‘Staying Alive’ that hit the top 100 downloads on Hypeddit’s and the support for Fred Dope continues to spread with Bexxie, Van Snyder and Alex Phratz also mixing ‘All I Wanna’ in recent sets.
Fred Dope’s influence is extending beyond the clubs as he enters the world of broadcasting, offering us his weekly RaveCast on Apple Podcasts and curates one of tech house music listened to playlists, Fred Dope Hot Picks.
