House Music Essentials Volume 1: 10 Releases That Cut Through the Noise

What is an essential house music track? Releases in the essential house music archive can always trusted in a set, those tracks DJs retreat to; the no brainers.

As we started compiling this collection of the best house music many years ago, there are more releases that can be shared within a reasonably lengthened article. Today we have 10 essential house music releases, and we try to explain why these are essential, touching particular corners of the house music genre, so that after acquiring these you can safely check that box of having that particular blend in your collection.

This first edition includes artists and labels to orbit around including Lane 8 & Jyll on Anjunadeep, Pional on Permanent Vacation, Paul Kardos for Magnitude Recordings, bradeazy discovered from a Layton Giordani set, Max Rosardo and Roy Audiovelox via Candy Flip, DJ MAX and Ron Carroll with Carrillo Music Group, Flaurese’s take on Bonobo and Poté, TWOMOVE (Paccu and Jend), Red Axes remixing Out of Orbit and Shpongle on Shamanic Tales, and last by not least, Mikey Lion on Desert Hearts.

To start, a more new release, Lane 8 with Jyll for a highly repeatable listen, ‘Stay Still, A Little While’ on Anjunadeep

Continuing to welcome you onto the dance floor, or serve as a compliment layer to help revel in a peak time moment, we have Pional‘s ‘Tempest’ on Permanent Vacation.

Next sample the Hungarian progressive house artist Paul Kardos and his remix of Golan Zocher‘s ‘Sandman’ as a Dancefloor Romancer premiere for Magnitude Recordings. Paul Kardos has been crafting progressive and deep house since age 11, debuting with the Lost Mind EP (2013) and releasing on labels like Bonzai Progressive, Soundteller, and Perspectives Digital. In 2017, he won Darin Epsilon’s remix contest alongside legends Robert Babicz and Nick Muir, earning support from progressive house figureheads including Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J.

Then we recently found a good one off a Layton Giordani set, bradeazy‘s ‘Up Down’ featuring TyriqueOrDie, a bouncier tech house record that is a good indicator of how the scene has been shaping lately. The biggest point being, Layton will bring you more of these essential house music releases at the forefront.

Miami-based tech-house DJ bradeazy broke through in 2024 with ‘Backstage Baddies’ before his follow-up ‘Up Down’ topped Beatport charts, hit 10M+ streams, and earned further support from FISHER, David Guetta, and Miss Monique.

Following we have a special one dear to our hearts, Max Rosardo and Roy Audiovelox showing off their Italian aura with ‘Touch’ for their debut on Colombia’s Candy Flip records and event brand. There is something unique to this record, the magic that keeps house music fans transfixed on the latest progressions.

Max Rosardo and Roy Audiovelox are finally popping up again after their Dancefloor Romancer premiere on Recline titled ‘Day Dreams’, which promises to keep the night buzzing.

A DJ MAX collaboration with Ron Carroll, ‘Turn It Up’, falls gracefully into the collection with Ron’s resonating vocals that we hope fill the air in the clubs for all eternity, and Max’s finely tuned classic house production. It is great to see Ron’s collection in the vault being released after his passing.

With this release the Carrillo Music Group showcases the Venice-based DJ MAX, the multi-award-winning international DJ, producer, and broadcaster whose career, which began at just 15, has taken him across the globe’s biggest stages including ADE, Ultra, MTV festivals, and events in Ibiza, Amsterdam, and Italy.

DJ Max’s Welcome To The Club brand anchors his place within our essential house music collection.

Welcome To The Club encompasses an Ibiza residency, official ADE Festival parties since 2024, and a radio show with 1,300+ episodes on Croatian national public radio since 1996, making it one of Europe’s longest-running weekly electronic music broadcasts and a cult favorite among clubbers worldwide. Enjoy ‘Turn It Up’ and the Carrillo Music family remixes with Kebab & Cream as well as Schom and Merd.

Then what Route 94 is calling the remix of the year, Flaurese‘s remix of Bonobo and Poté‘s ‘Give You Up’. This one does a few things, for one, ingraining Bonobo into the house music scene, plus showcases Poté‘s refreshing vocals, and third ties the dance floor together between the reggaeton and dance music crowd.

Next we have a release for a project’s debut, TWOMOVE‘s ‘Nice & Close’ as the Austrians Paccu and Jend venture into more of a club vibe following the success of their melodic and more chill house solo projects that have been reaching the millions. ‘Nice & Close’ was followed up by ‘Loco Motive’, for more club-ready tech house.

You can currently find Paccu based out of Barcelona curating events and playing sets under the moniker Mosaic with Jend and Taha Malkib. Plus keep up with his solo project through his latest, more emotional house music releases, that are speaking to the world, ‘All of My Love’ and ‘won’t start’ with PRAZI. Then to send your self on a good one be sure to sample Jend’s latest releases that inspires, ‘Give It All Awaay‘.

ere is a deep rooted one for making it this far down the list, an essential as it brings Shpongle into the house music soundscape with Tel Aviv’s Red Axes remix of Out of Orbit and Shpongle’s ‘No Disco’ on Shamanic Tales records. This one was Shazam’d during a highly recommended Sky Line Music Festival in Los Angeles.

What’s that? An encore?!  Okay, the final release for thatDROP’s house music essentials Vol. 1, one for a sunrise set following a wacky night, Mikey Lion‘s deep house ‘Playa Dreams’ for Desert Hearts.
