Mysterious Chicago, Illinois producers under the moniker Braunstein Freres (a la the famous French rolling paper company) took on ODESZA’s monumental track, “White Lies”, and absolutely knocked it out of the park.
While keeping their remix fairly close to the original in terms of tone and timbre, Braunstein Freres somehow manages to inject even more space to their rework than ODESZA’s initial version. With cascading vocal loops and a dance-able yet minimal drum beat, the “White Lies” remix sounds like a hazy dreamscape.
It’s wistful, it’s pensive, and it’s brooding.
As Jenni Potts’ vocals swirl and swoon over the hypnotic beat, Braunstein Freres’ remix of “White Lies” is a dynamic track. Lying somewhere between the realms of light and dark with it’s bright sound yet dark undercurrent, “White Lies” is something that you’ll have to hear for yourself to decipher.
