Dirtybird Showcases the Scenes Top Femme Icons During Women in Music Weekender

To make it International Women’s Week, Dirtybird partners with SHE IS THE MUSIC to present, Women in Music, March 11-14th, four nights of the scenes top femme icons. The digital festival is the brand’s first step in their new initiative to uplift femme-identifying dance artists across the globe. 

Additionally, femme-identifying fans are encouraged to contribute directly to the festivities by sending the label a clip about what being a Women in Music means to them; choice ones will be selected and shared throughout the celebration to build further awareness and connection. To begin our lineup review proper, thatDROP premieres Sydney Blu‘s ‘Turning Point’, off her upcoming Berlin-inspired LP, Conviction. The Canadian, Sydney Blu has worked alongside Hot Since 82 and Kevin Saunderson, landed music on Mau5trap, yet Conviction is perhaps her most realized body of work.

Gina Turner will be hosting a yoga workshop to kick off the festivities on March 11, and other activities that will be revealed closer to the event. The trusted Berlin house head, Alinka has official remixes with DRAMA and Adam Port and was featured on Crosstown Rebels and Circoloco, among others. The genre-spanning electronic music artist, Anna Morgan was most recently showcased on Bass Coast Festivals’ 12 Days annual compilation. 

Rinse FM resident, Barely Legal is pushing the techno beats out of London. Amsterdam’s Black Girl / White Girl can be found on staple techno labels like, NUDE and 6am with their hypnotic style. Blu 9 returns to Dirtybird’s channel following her highly-revered raid during Carnival Weekender in January. Berlin’s Burning Man cadet, Camea will make an highly anticipated appearance, spreading dystopia love through melodic techno.

Hit Choopsie‘s set for some lo-fi house vibes and beyond. While Brooklyn’s Lauren Flax is notorious for bringing the acid house. Fellow New Yorker Taylor Bratches, has been gaining a loyal following from her mixes on Acid Camp, Walking & Falling and Upperberry. Be sure to catch a Detroit purist, DJ Holographic, who is coming up lately with a remix of Moonboots and ‘Faith In My Cup’ landing on Carl Craig‘s Planet E Detriot.

Keep an eye out for the integrated Grand Rapids techno ambassador, Faren Strnad, who has scene appearances at Dirtybird Campout, ShipFam Island (Croatia) and Desert Heart’s Lions Den.

There should be a big turn out for New Yorker’, Gina Turner, pumping her variety of house from spiritual to gingerbread. Indie dance and house icon Mija will be headlining the event in addition to hosting her own ‘Welcome To My House’ bloc, while Paris’ LOUSIAHHH!!! is set to put her virtual audience in a trance with her distinctive French electro sonics.  

Expect plenty of leftfield house and techno from LA figurehead Jenniluv of Making Shapes fame. Femme House Collective boss LP Giobbi will make her Dirtybird virtual debut, while label resident Nala is bringing Uffie along to her TV Party bloc. Victoria Rawlins is a vinyl DJ known around LA for intersecting electronic dance music, global disco sounds and punk rock attitude.

With work with Sasha, appearances on Alan Fitzpatrick‘s We Are The Brave Radio and HÖR, Berlin’s Vonda7 will be warmly welcomed within the Dirtybird family. Little is known about P2B Live and Hennyshot, the two wildcards on the lineup hyped to leave their mark. Rounding off the lineup is a Dirtybird essential, Worthy
