At this point Diplo needs no introduction.
The Mad Decent label head has proven to be trendsetter in the dance music scene, and a versatile producer capable of working just about any kind of music.
It’s no surprise then that he’s once again attempted to break ground with his newest track, “Long Way Home.”
A collaboration with Grizzly Bear’s Edward Droste and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, “Long Way Home” is Diplo working his magic by fusing indie rock and hip-hop beats.
The result is a stark departure from the twerking anthems he has been pumping out over the last couple years, with the haunting vocals of Droste and Rostam being featured over a remixed version of a hip-hop beat Diplo produced for Ty Dolla $ign’s “Stand For.”
It’s an interesting work that intrigues us as to what else can be done with this stylistic fusion, and with Diplo we know it’ll be explored further soon.
