Låpsley, known as Holly Låpsley Fletcher, released her new EP “Understudy” January of 2015.
In the UK, “Falling Short” has begun receiving more and more radio play especially with BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac including her first release “Station” in her 2014 annual compilation.
Recently signed to XL Recordings (home to Adele, Jai Paul, The XX, FKA Twigs, M.I.A., King Krule and countless others), Låpsley has a bright future ahead of her.
At the young age of 18, she has produced, written, and created her entire first EP “Understudy”.
While already impressive, what she delivers musically is equally astounding with her sultry voice complimenting her emotive soundscapes.
This track “8896” is more closely connected to American ears, especially if you’re a fans of James Blake, Sampha, Jai Paul, The XX, SBTRKT, or Drake. “8896” pulses with rim shots, piano, and an ethereal woman’s voice.
The vocals take liberties of using Låpsley’s warm, lower vocal range, and pitching it down to create a lower vocal under it to enhance the already strong melody.
The perfect Sunday morning chill song, or the perfect insomnia soundtrack to end your night – don’t sleep on this one as Låpsley will soon be a big international hit as she has a busy year in 2015.
