Long before becoming one of progressive house music’s most respected figures, Hernán Cattáneo sold his beloved Renault GTL, purchased with years of DJ earnings, to fund a trip from Argentina to New York. The story continues according to a source at Super Progressive, his destination wasn’t Times Square or the Statue of Liberty, it was the legendary Sound Factory, where Frankie Knuckles was redefining dance music one marathon set at a time.
Rather than spending the night on the dance floor, Cattáneo arrived early to secure a spot overlooking the DJ booth, studying every transition Knuckles made. What he witnessed transformed his philosophy forever. Knuckles demonstrated that a great set is shaped by the interstices between moments, allowing the room to breathe and preserving the emotional arc of the night. It was a lesson in patience that would become the cornerstone of Cattáneo’s own sound.

In 1999, Cattáneo was asked to play between The Chemical Brothers and Paul Oakenfold during a night in Buenos Aires. For 75 minutes, Hernán delivered a deep, measured set that reset the dance floor. While some fans expected the peak-time progressions that Cattáneo was known for, Hernan understood his role in the moment.
Oakenfold immediately recognized the artistry behind the performance, thanking Cattáneo after the set and later inviting him to join his Perfecto world tour. That invitation became the launchpad for Cattáneo’s international career.
The upcoming tour includes appearances at NUWA FORESTA presents SUDBEAT Showcase in Colombo, Loveland Festival in Amsterdam, Balance Croatia Festival, a New York City Boat Party, Piknic Électronik in Montréal, stops throughout Spain, and culminates with a special six-hour back-to-back performance alongside Nick Warren during Amsterdam Dance Event.
While the buzz remains after playing for a SET Underground warehouse event in LA with Armen Miran and Musumeci or at the Warung Beach Club with Fran Bortolossi, Ezequiel Arias, Edu Schwartz and Danee, among other recent stops.
