Rod Carrillo and Ron Carroll Led a Soulful House Collection Titled, ‘Lifted in Sound’ [Carrillo Music]

Chicago’s own Ron Carroll is coming off a collaboration with Hot Since 82 on Defected Records to rejoin Carrillo Music‘s Rod Carrillo following their global success via ‘Get Up’ to bring the club alive with ‘Lifted in Sound,’ a record that holds warmly true to it’s title. The longtime studio mates release a few necessary versions of the peace blasting, soulful house production to suit any occasion, first their original club mix then venturing into remixes by Knox, Kebab & Cream (Club Mix), Elliott Holloway and Mo C (Tulum Mix).

The UK’s Kebab & Cream gives the record an old-school feel with squishy layers and psychedelic vocal effects for the new journey they take with ‘Lifted in Sound’.  Toronto’s Mo C sends us waves from the jungles of Tulum for his heavy, melodic house to progressive house version.

Then Carrillo Music shines light on the Nashville-based sensation, Knox as he explores beyond his viral alternative-rock releases to appear on two edits of ‘Lifted by Sound’, a club and dub mix.  Knox‘s club mix gets down with a fresh funk bridge, higher notes and overall smooth feel, while the dub mix crashes with splashy symbols, brings the synths into focus and keeps it hush on the vocals.

Closing this funk party out is a Carrillo Music discovery, Elliott Holloway, who shares his inspiration from Madrid to lift ‘Lifted in Sound’ to a whole new level with a bouncier, warehouse-ready version.

The originally traxsource exclusive charted on the platform’s Melodic/Progressive House Essentials, Weekend Weapons, Hype Chart and House Essentials charts, while one notable artist that has already mixed ‘Lifted in Sound’ into his radio show is Madrid’s legend, David Penn, the founder of Urbana Recordings and a Defected and Toolroom party favorite.

It was around this time 12-years ago when Ron Carroll released ‘Lucky Star’ with Superfunk that got picked up by Hot Since 82, Solomun and Kolombo for remix treatment. It is great to see Ron not missing a stride as life comes full circle for him lately with Hot Since 82. You will have to listen to the remixes of his timeless record with Superfunk and enjoy the music journey Ron Carroll is on. Here is Solomun’s remix to start with.

Other tracks of Ron’s include releases with Spinnin’, EMI and Sirup & Tiger while he is currently working on projects with Ultra Records and Sony Music. Ron meeting back up with Rod Carrillo speaks volumes of Carrillo Music and his Panamanian buddy’s caliber of music production.

Rod Carrillo, has a great story as well with a collection of records to dig through to mark his check points along his music career following law school such as works with Danny Howard, Ralphi Rosario, Eddie Amador, Terri B! and Rosabel, among many others.

Stay with Rod Carrillo and Ron Carroll’s collaborative efforts by plugging into ‘Get Up’, then sample Rod Carrillo’s driven ‘Choose It’ EP that comes recommended.
