thatDROP: What inspired you to start creating music?
Will Pit-a-Pat: I’ve always had the dream of being a DJ/Producer. I’m a music lover and when I was in college, I felt I wanted to listen to different music and understand how to create music, so I started investing in my education. When i started my career, I felt the need to be a producer and I looked for electronic music production courses.
I learned a lot but I also realized that the more I digged, the more I needed to learn and study. So I started working alone and with other producers and friends help, I started climbing the mountain and create more, better quality music.
thatDROP: Who have been some of your biggest influences?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Listening to tracks of worldwide famous artists like Tiesto, Safri Duo, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Axwell or Roger Sanchez, made me start following my dream. Nowadays, there are a lot of different artists I really admire, like Diego Miranda, Kura, Dannic, Steve Angello, Ummet Ozcan, Bass Kleph, Marnik, Lush & Simon and many others.
thatDROP: We have been in touch since you contact us about your bootleg of Ed Sheeran’s “Sing.” What feedbacks did you have about it?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Wonderful feedback! I had a lot of downloads around the world and I’m getting a lot of support from the internacional dance scene. People tell me they love the bootleg and ask me to make more music constantly and that is the best feedback I could ever have.
thatDROP: We know you’re going to release some tracks this year. Can you tell us something about it?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Yes. This is going to be a great year for me and I’m going to release a few tracks which I hope will be released by the best EDM labels on the market. However, the most important thing is keep working hard!
I have a great progressive house track made with my friend John Mina and a melbourne bounce one, which is going to be a club banger, just because it has a trap section. There are others but they still remain a well kept secret.
thatDROP: When did you start djing or decide to start pursuing music as a career?
Will Pit-a-Pat: When I got my degree, I started working a lot but I always wanted to be a DJ/Producer. In 2010, I did some courses and my career begun. I believe that it was a big turning point and it changed my life forever!
thatDROP: What do you usually start with when preparing for a live set?
Will Pit-a-Pat: I’m very careful with my setup and always ask for four Pioneer CDJ 2000 players and Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus or DJM 2000. Of course, if possible, I love when exploring the Pioneer RMX 1000! Before I leave home, I always have my USB’s and my Pioneer HDJ 2000.
thatDROP: You are an upcoming DJ/Producer. What do you think is the most hard challenge for you at the moment?
Will Pit-a-Pat: I believe the biggest difficulty is creating your own sound design with your characteristics. Building really good tracks for the best labels in the world when you are still not at your highest level is an almost-impossible task! However, I believe we need to be confident and work hard.
When we fail, we learn. So, when we receive a no from an artist or a label, we just need to accept it and keep working and trying. That’s how the industry works! Of course we need luck too and we must try to reach the best professionals in all areas of the music industry.
thatDROP: Do you think is there any space for newcomer producers in electronic music industry?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Absolutely! There are so many talented producers around the world and a lot of them are supported by the best in the business. I can give you some examples like Thomas Newson, Marnik or Joey Dale. I just think they can be wonderful producers but they must be better DJ’s.
thatDROP: Are you interested in travel around the world, specially to USA?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Of course! I believe it will happen sooner or later. I want to produce more, better music and reach the best labels and start to show my work to the world.
I’m a better DJ than I am a producer but I’m starting to reach a higher level and I feel more capable when it comes to accepting bigger challenges day after day. I want to play and have gigs in Europe but USA is definitely the market I have bigger ambitions!
thatDROP: What’s your dream?
Will Pit-a-Pat: Be one of the best artists in the world and help those who need it the most! When I can, I’ll obviously build music schools and teach whoever would want to learn. I think we all can do more great things for the music industry and not everything is dependent on money.
Feelings and values like honesty and proactivity are very important to change our world. I always say: “Everything is possible! Nothing is impossible!”
That’s what the EDM community is all about – making music simply out of love and striving for success in order to give back to the community.
