Trippy Turtle is back with a vengeance with “A Good Ass Turtle”, released in conjunction to FoFoFadi’s (the group name of Trippy Turtle, Cashmere Cat, etc.) updated website rollout and World Turtle Day – it’s only too fitting.
“A Good Ass Turtle” is everything you’d expect from Trippy Turtle with its heavy-yet-quick groove that shuffles across the ears at 100 miles per hour.
The beginning of the track throws the soul right in your face – and we’re here to testify to it. Trippy Turtle then tells us exactly what we’re hear to preach for: “werk”. Grabbing a few words from Chance The Rapper (“werk”, “twerk”, and “bang turtle bang”) he is able to cut and splice the lyrics far enough to thrust some fun into the track.
After that the soul follows the famous Jersey Club/FoFoFaDi “drip” trademark sound at 1:01. Trippy Turtle let’s his roots shine at the 1:50 mark by pulling the track back and slowing things down. It’s enough to catch one’s breath before the heavy juke ending. “A Good Ass Turtle” jams, it moves, it shakes, and it grooves.
