If you haven’t heard Shake Shake Go‘s new track “England Skies,” you’re missing out on a beautiful song about overcoming homesickness.
If you haven’t heard Epic Empire’s remix, you’re missing out on the new corner stone of your playlist, whether you’re on set or driving out to the next EDM festival.
I don’t normally like to compare tracks, since every track is beautiful in its own way, but I haven’t felt this good since KOAN Sound and Asa dropped This Time Around into the world. Of course Epic Empire, a man who has been fashioning chill styles for a while now, would easily reinvent that feeling.
The composition really is beautiful on this one. The use of rhythmically crafted sound effects like a faucet dripping, coupled with an ambient aesthetic, creates this sort of “ether on earth” feel throughout the track.
In a lot of EDM, there’s this fantastical vibe present, alien in form, that usually brings you above and beyond our planet. In Epic Empire’s remix of “England Skies,” it’s planet Earth’s very nature which fundamentally forms the feel of this fantasy.
A spell like this doesn’t get cast too often, you know what I mean? It’s the spell reminding us that the beauty of sound isn’t just that it creates worlds, but that it also comes from our world. Man, I need to hug some trees!
