The Re:Generation Music Project is a documentary focused on organic music, electronic music, and bridging the gap between the two worlds. Combining five traditional music styles (rock, jazz, R&B, country, and classical) with today’s top producers, the Re:Generation Music Project is an exploration into the boundaries of music.

So who was chosen to steer the ship for the EDM community?

Skrillex, Pretty Lights, The Crystal Method, DJ Premier, and Mark Ronson. Not bad company, right?

The documentary pairs each artist with a traditional genre of music to update, remix, rehash, and reimagine. An odd concept, but an interesting one watch. The unusual concept of the documentary, paired with the glee of watching top dance music producers and performers mashed up and out of their comfort zone with each unconventional pairing makes for an absolutely awesome experience.

The pairings are:

  • Rock: Skrilllex and The Doors.
  • Country: Pretty Lights, LeAnn Rimes, and Dr. Ralph Stanley.
  • R&B: The Crystal Method with Martha Reeves and the Funk Brothers.
  • Classical: DJ Premier, Nas, and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra.
  • Jazz: Mark Ronson and Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, and Mos Def.

What happened next is musical history.
