Why Pretty Lights is Making a Statement in August 2015

Why Pretty Lights is Making a Statement in August 2015
Pretty Lights Summer 2015.

Internationally acclaimed and Grammy nominated producer Derek Smith AKA Pretty Lights is firing on all cylinders with what may be one of the most anticipated months of the artist’s career.

Playing a multitude of dates in both the U.S. and Canada, PL has big things planned for August 2015.

Starting the month in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for VELD Festival – Pretty Lights will soon bring his sound back stateside for an appearance at New Jersey’s Electric Adventure before heading to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Returning to Red Rocks for the sixth consecutive year, Pretty Lights will be supported by Soulive for 2 unforgettable nights in the acclaimed producer’s home state.

Having already sold out Red Rocks 5 times, expect Morrison to go bonkers when Smith steps onstage.

After last year’s Red Rocks run that featured 6 sets over 2 nights (2 with the Analog Future Band, 2 sets with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and 2 solo sets), jaws dropped and lives changed in Morrison, Colorado. Who says it can’t happen again?

After Red Rocks Smith ships off to the world-famous Shambhala Music Festival in Salmo, British Columbia, Canada. After Shambhala, Pretty Lights has a 19-day break to prepare for his magnum opus performances on August 28th and 29th in Telluride, Colorado.

What’s so special about Telluride? For a Pretty Lights first Derek Smith is performing his first multi-day camping festival that features, get this, only Pretty Lights.

When asked why Telluride, the Colorado native responded with:

“I’ve thought a lot about what a perfect place to throw a Pretty Lights concert might be, and what that actually means. I think that Telluride Town Park might be a place like that. The energy that resonates there is beyond the cusp of my own understanding but it is powerful and undeniable. I think that the seclusion of Telluride creates a real opening to focus on getting in touch… with each other, ourselves, and the vibrations we experience as music, light, and life. PLUS the stars shine incredibly bright and the mountains are jaw dropping. These two nights in Telluride will be an awesome and historic opportunity to experience a live Pretty Lights show in what may be the perfect venue.”

We’re. Absolutely. Psyched.

Outside of the incredible venue, there’s still another kicker in store for Telluride: Pretty Lights will once again perform with the Analog Future Band to add a live spin that we haven’t seen since Red Rocks 2014.

Fans the world over whipped into a frenzy within seconds of the initial announcement; some are still reeling from it.

The Analog Future Band features Adam Deitch, Borahm Lee, Eric Krasno, Brian Coogan, Eric Bloom, Scott Flynn, and Chris Karns. Bridging the gap between the electronic and organic performance (something that Pretty Lights is already quite familiar with), the Analog Future Band promises to throw it down each and every set in Telluride.
