Recently, Mr. Carmack teamed up with Ta-ku to create the track, “I Miss You Most A Night.” In the scheme of Mr. Carmack’s releases, this one is unique as it is extremely personal – something that may be attributed to Ta-ku’s style.
The beginning swirls with deep ambient pad until the snare rolls.
Rolling synths vibrate in the background as the vocals kick in. A simple bass line pans across the audio field, swerving through your mind as the vocals of “miss you most at night” gently weave on top. The balance of both recreates the perfect feeling of taking a night drive after a hard day of reflection.
The second verse gives a bit more bravado – including a deep bass kick and rattling hi-hat hits.
The vocals are more balanced and harmonized, and the lyrics harken back to those fun nights out. The song does an excellent job of describing a relationship where the narrator tries to go out to forget – instead, the narrator realizes that “I miss you most at night.” Nothing compares to what they had and it carries heavy weight with the accompaniment of the soundscape beneath the vocals.
