L.A. based jack-of-all-trades artist Luna Shadows, could very well be the newest sensation in music. Over the past couple of months, she has been slowly dropping each track off of her debut EP “Summertime”.
Recently, this concluded with the last track featured on the EP, “Waves”.
“Waves” is the perfect sunset drive song.
It is easy to imagine yourself driving alone to your favorite beach, to watch the sunset roll away as you lay in your hoodie pondering life’s greatest questions.
Fittingly, the tracks lyrics match this to a “T”. While sonically the soundscape is pop driven, lyrically the song is an introspective look at letting go and let what be, be.
The song begins with a bright grand piano chiming the chord progression.
As Luna Shadows’ vocals float on top, the only percussion in the verse is a gentle “blipp” and “beep” allowing the vocal performance to set the mood.
When the verse transitions into the chorus section, so does the sound with an ecstatic four-to-the-floor groove punctuated with wide and full 808-drum-machine claps.
The chorus cascades over and under the doubled vocals, and provide a summer-like ambiance set to a dance groove that is hard to get rid of or ignore.
Her Summertime EP is out now, and proves to establish her future status as a possible pop sensation. Thankfully, the EP is streaming across all platforms.
While comparisons can be made to her fellow contemporaries, Luna Shadows’ sound helps her stand out from the rest; get accustomed to her voice fast as she is destined for great things ahead.
