While the world patiently waits for Kanye West to drop his next album, KRNE teamed up with MOONZz to remake Kanye West’s “Wolves”.
KRNE and MOONZz’s take on “Wolves” is shockingly bright and upbeat, but it still carries the depth of tone that the original evokes.
The original track was divisive to say the least; people either loved it or they hated it. The original is clearly designed act as a set-up for Kanye’s forthcoming album, but KRNE turns “Wolves” into a full-fledged song with contrasting structures to provides the son’s ebb and flow.
KRNE and MOONZz don’t waste any time by immediately jumping into “Wolves” and creating a playful soundscape above distorted vocals.
Instead of Vic Mensa or SIA you have the smokey/jazzy/raspy tone of MOONZz’s voice. It provides that perfect contrast against KRNE’s sonic choices of bright bells, whistles, and colorful synths – and her dark vocal tone helps the original’s sound to translate through this rework.
KRNE uses the verses to tie directly into a build up that allows the synths to vibrate, whine, and pulse over “I was too wild” – the new chorus designed by KRNE and MOONZz.
In a wise move the build-up doesn’t drop off the cliff; instead, it pulls you higher and higher.
MOONZz vocals keep you locked into the lyrics – a reflection. She guides listeners with perfect emotion, just far enough to keep the ears entranced. It’s only fitting that MOONZz is so perfectly attached to “Wolves”.
