A new year comes with new ambitions, resolutions and projects. 2023 arrived and Jacob Colon is ready to share what he has in store for the coming months. We sat down with him to talk more about what his plans are for the new year.
Hey, 2023 is here and we’d like to know what are your hopes for this year regarding your music career?
Throughout my career I’ve spent countless hours in my studio listening to my productions over and over again while trying to recalculate my next move and how I will lay down my next idea. 2023 will be a year of great music that I will be releasing on my own label and hopefully some labels that I’ve looked up to over the years. Along with that, my radio show has been doing really well and continues to be broadcasted on many stations around the world. I look forward to see how the show progresses through 2023.
What are your top 3 resolutions for this new year?
- I would like to get picked up on a Spotify curated playlist.
- I’ve started a new workout regimen and would like to add on about 5-10 pounds of muscle.
- Put out more records in other genres besides House music.
Do you have any releases in the pipelines for the upcoming months?
Yes, I do. I’m committed to put out one release per month.
If you could pick any event, any stage, any place: where would you like to perform in 2023?
Coachella.
And following on from that, if the world was your oyster for selection, who would you like to collaborate with this new year?
Rihanna.
Are there any new hobbies or activities you’d like to try in 2023?
I don’t have anything in mind. Perhaps I’ll run into something cool and consider it.
Are there any new skills or new gear that you’d like to implement to your studio in 2023?
Native Instruments dropped some cool virtual instruments that I’ve been checking out. Maybe I’ll treat myself to a couple of them this year.
From a production standpoint, what would you say is the number one area you would like/need to invest time into in order to develop your production level?
Songwriting.
Any new genres you’d like to explore next year?
Reggaeton.
New sub-genres come and go into fashion every year, what are your predictions for 2023?
Well, Dance Pop made a big comeback this year and we’ve seen Tech House get some mainstream attention as well. It’s interesting to see how this will affect the next big sound for Dance music.
Besides yourself, which artists or labels should people follow this year?
Repopulate Mars, Nervous Records and Ultra Records are a few that I always look out for. They always have a variety of good quality artist they release with.
Make a prediction for 2023 about the world or music and we’ll try and catch you this time next year to see if it came true!
My sound is the next big vibe in Dance music.
Do you have a message for your followers for new year?
Thank you for all your support. I’m grateful to be doing what I love and appreciate all the feedback and encouragement I receive every week.
