Italian DJ, Dr. Shiver already made his presence known with his soulful, funky styling through “Something”, but recently brought the track to life when he collected 12 of the best Italian musicians to curate a live version of the track.
The live version of “Something” creates a truly spectral-yet-funky vibration through the listener’s center of being without diverting from its original composition.
While most electronic artists keep their work strictly behind the boards and translate their artistry through automated synth and bass, Dr. Shiver destroyed producer stereotypes when he designed “Something” around a completely analog environment. With live vocals provided by Kazi, these musicians seemed to have no issue with the direction and origins of the original track.
While Dr. Shiver may be able to express his rhythmic side a little more, the producer himself tops off the track with surprising riffs and solos not found in the original. Nicky Romero‘s Protocol Recordings took a huge chance backing an artist who demolishes so many industry norms, but their faith was not misplaced with this music virtuoso.
Now compare the Italian DJ’s solo hit with the live 12 person band’s version.
