A few short days after announcing that Camp Bisco would not be returning in 2014, production company MCP Presents announced a new festival filling the void in Saugerties, New York. Responsible for the aforementioned Camp Bisco, The Buku Music & Art Project, CounterPoint, and Lights All Night, MCP has a history of putting on highly successful and well received events.
The Hudson Project Music & Arts Festival is set to occur July 11-13 at Winston Farm, the host of the 1994 Woodstock festival that drew over 300,000 attendees. Though The Hudson Project anticipates only between 18,000 – 22,000, involvement of EDM conglomerate SFX Entertainment and original 1969 festival organizer Michael Lang suggest this event will cater to tradition while continuing to push the production envelope.
Co-Founder of MCP Events Brett Keber released the following statement regarding the event:
Our goal with The Hudson Project was the creation of a music and arts festival that also highlighted the beautiful area where the modern music festival genre was born… By offering camping with a genre diverse line-up ranging from Rock to Pop, Hip Hop to Electronic and more, we’re hoping to offer a great local option in the U.S. festival market.
Genres will range from electronic dance music to hip-hop, with over 80 musical performances anticipated. The festival offer four stages, amusement rides, art installations, yoga classes, food and vendor villages, and other various workshops. A lineup is expected to be announced next week.
The announcement of the festival has the community ecstatic at the prospects of exposure and an economic boost. Shuttles will be busing attendees in to town from 7 AM – 7PM for the duration of the event.
With Mysteryland making its’ United States debut 70 miles to the Southwest over Memorial Day Weekend, it is shaping up to be a massive summer for upstate New York.
