When Gym Class Heroes released “Cupid’s Chokehold” with Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy in 2005, it was instantly one of the hottest sounds of the summer.
Since then, Fall Out Boy has completely restylized their sound and Gym Class Heroes is no where to be found. That doesn’t change that this song holds in the place of the hearts of 20-somethings as a common anthem to adolescent summers.
Now it’s back with a housey rework as the result of a collaboration between Philadelphia duo Vaux & Rivera and San Francisco producer Taylor Wise. Slightly snarey with a whistling melody that passionately breaks down towards the outro, this remix of “Cupid’s Chokehold” is enough to bring a smile to your face at the beginning of the week.
