Big thanks to Mountain Dew for steering us away from the typical weekly tradition of Taco Tuesday and giving us a chance to experience some quality mid-week tunes.
Taking over New York City’s Highline Ballroom, Green Label Live curated a talented lineup of the unbounded Illuminati AMS, Harlem local Austin Millz and remix master RAC that kept the tunes flowing throughout the evening. With Mountain Dew in the house, the West Chelsea venue was transformed into an intimate gathering that catered to the more sophisticated music palettes of the predominantly post-industrial locale.
Relaxed lightning utilized Mountain Dew’s signature green as the central hue creating a relaxed atmosphere that had everyone in high spirits.
Doors opened promptly at 7:30 as advertised with the production team wasting no time kicking off the festivities. Austin Millz started us off in setting the mood with his newly released trap remixes that included Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type.” The smooth transition to the next act saw Euro-House tandem Illuminati AMS take over the decks. Traveling all the way from Amsterdam IAMS proliferated those trap vibes, dropping O.T. Genesis’s “Coco” & Father’s “Look at Wrist” into the mix.
Good drinks and even better vibes ensured the atmosphere was primed for RAC.
With the headliner on the decks and a couple of Kickstart Vodka’s added to the cypher, the dancing instincts took over. RAC tossed crowd favorites from Blondie, Phoenix and Lana Del Rey into the mix, adding that signature touch that took it to the next level.
The ambiance of the intimate evening succeeded in making attendees feel exclusive and alive.
In addition to highlighting these three talented artists, the evening served as a celebration to announce the commencement of Green Label Sound: Open Call.
The competition will award one winner $50,000 to record an EP, the chance to tap into RAC for production advice, and an opportunity to perform at the Green Label House during SXSW 2015.
Designed to curate, elevate, and empower independent artists, Green Label Sound continues to set the stage.
