We have really been feeling the Lauv with Ari Leff’s song, ‘I Like Me Better’… Seriously though, this American singer is thriving off of this catchy electro pop single. Although the song was originally released last May, it wasn’t until this February when the single bubbled onto the US Billboard Hot 100 as number 96 and currently number 84! This not only acts as a stepping stone in his upcoming career, but also acts as a puzzle piece to his whole love story.
‘I Like Me Better’ takes a maze of an explanation and turns it into a melodic ring of simplicity.
The title is a bit deceiving. The song comes to life when the lyrics continue the title of the song with ‘When I’m with you’. Love is hard to comprehend. As much as the heart is studied, experienced and written about, it remains to be dangerously unsought territory, truly. The song will stick around for a while, because it speaks for a lot of us and there will always a little space within your music collect for a little electro pop.

Relationships aren’t easy. They are really hard. Despite my boyfriend not treating me the best the whole duration that we’ve been together, I knew I couldn’t just drop him. In the midst of it all, my friends would ask me why I stuck around and I was never able to fully explain why. I knew why, but putting my thoughts into words seemed impossible. After listening to this song, I realized it was just that. He taught me how to forgive and trust. The relationship taught me how to not take good moments for granted. Most importantly, loving him taught me how to be selfless, nice and caring. I have stayed around all this time because I like how he has made me a better person- I like me better when I’m with him.
