Drezo is an LA based producer who has been making a name for himself as of late. He is known for his strong bass lines and crisp percussion work allowing him to have a wide, stadium influenced sound.
He has had releases on Mad Decent, and OWSLA too, solidifying his place in the ever growing EDM world. With his recent remix of “4 Real”, Drezo re-confirms his talents and abilities.
On this remix, Drezo converts Destructo’s tune “4 Real” featuring Ty Dolla Sign & ILoveMakonnen into something sinisterly deep.
While Drezo’s remix is based on house roots, it is anything but. There are no stabby, bright synths. Instead, the beginning section is laced with dark ambient synth pads, flushed out by filtered drums.
If anything, Drezo creates a hybrid combination of House, Electro, Trapstep and Dubstep into one unique sound/style.
This track is made to quake through the body, and force it to move.
When the build up starts, the vocals are dropped to a low sinister voice. The drums explode with a crisp sound of forced air – live, the speakers are definitely pushing hard. Match that with the low, deep bass line, any speaker will have a hard time keeping up.
The balance in this remix is key – everything is focused on the low and mid range with exception to the hi-hat/extra percussion.
The pulse keeps riding until the mid way point where Drezo pulls back for a moment to allow the tension to rebuild up again. This is also the one of the few times that he highlights the vocals, leaving them unaltered and to guide the bridge section.
Just as quickly as the original tune can be recognized, Drezo again dives deep back into the crushing pulse of his progressive, electro house groove with this remix of Destructo’s “4 Real”.
