Camping Essentials for Nocturnal Wonderland 2019

As we patiently await the final run of Nocturnal Wonderland at Glen Helen Regional Park, the outfits are coming together and the camping checklist is growing, we not so patiently wait for the set times to drop… However, you will find that the full moon pre-party and silent disco talent has been revealed.

To make the packing process a bit easier and thorough, we put together a list of everything one might need at a camping music festival. First things first, hit play on the Nocturnal Wonderland 2019 playlist.

Camping Supplies

  • Sleeping bag
  • Extra blankets
  • Blankets to sit on
  • Pillows
  • Air mattress (if you pack this also include pump or extra batteries for the pump, a patch kit for repairs, and sheets to cover it with)
  • Head lamps
  • Lantern
  • Extra toilet paper
  • Bath towels, at least one per person and an extra
  • Water Park Towels – if you don’t want to air-dry
  • Chairs
  • Coolers (it’s a good idea to pack a large one for drinks and to use as a table and a smaller one for food)
  • Febreeze or insense to keep the tent smelling fresh
  • Lysol spray for the tent for sanitizing
  • Cleaning spray or Lysol wipes to clean surfaces like your table
  • Jugs/ bottles of water
  • Stereo or music player (also include extra batteries, CD’s or whatever you need for this)
  • Small screen, tablet or portable TV and sign up for a service where you can watch TV for free
  • Jumper cables (for car camping, if you have that friend that has to charge everything)
  • Tent locks (However, some feel locks bring more attention to your tent)
  • Hand warmers, hot hands (nights will be cold)
  • Flag, balloons, or lights (to mark your campsite so you can find it easily)
  • Optional items like a fold out table (beer pong size or otherwise),
  • A rug or tarp for the ground outside your tent/rv
  • Shade Awning-Small shade tents, large umbrellas, and Sunbrellas can be helpful to block out sun and rain during the shows if the festival allows them in the venue
  • Tapestries to hang up for decoration
  • Ash trays, and Butt containers (PICK UP YOUR BUTTS)
  • Trash bags
  • Something to share

Food and Cooking Supplies

  • Camping stove
  • Extra gas canisters
  • Biodegradable dish soap
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Pots, pans, pot holders, spatulas, silverware, plates, napkins (a good rule of thumb is to figure out what kind of food you are bringing and make sure you have the necessary equipment to prepare it)
  • Cups
  • Straws
  • Ice (fit as much as you can into the coolers, making sure to keep half a bag in the plastic to use for drinks.  Ice will be sold on the festival grounds but it will be twice as expensive as in the real world so stock up as much as possible before entering)
  • Condiments (butter, ketchup, mustard, etc.)
  • French press for coffee
  • Coffee or instant hot chocolate and cider, and don’t forget cream and sugar
  • Lots of bottled water, more than you think you will need.
  • Koozies to keep your beer cold!
  • Something to share

As far as food goes it’s up to you what to bring but try and pack things that are easy to snack on as well as meals that can be easily prepared in the dark or with limited supplies.  We always pack lots of chips, sandwiches, protein shakes and granola bars because those seem to be the things we eat the most. There will be plenty of food vendors, but they can get pricey if that’s what you rely on for 3 days.

Toiletries and Personal Items

  • Travel shampoo/conditioner
  • Face wipes
  • Baby wipes (shower lines can grow long, so if you refill jugs of water you can use these to brush your teeth and wash your hands, and rinse what you need. Baby wipes can help you stay clean throughout the day) *Please DO NOT dispose of these in porta potties!
  • Toothpaste / toothbrush / Mouthwash (Mouthwash is convenient when you are getting ready to go to sleep and you’re too intoxicated to deal with toothbrushes and water)
  • First aid kit (Band-Aids, Neosporin, etc.) Note: There is medical onsite but a first aid kit can be useful for you or your neighbors for small battle wounds!
  • Pain medicine (SEALED)
  • Pepto and antacids. Any medications you are taking (birth control, anti-anxiety pills, motion sickness meds, etc.) Note: ALL medications should be sealed, and or be in the prescription bottle with the proper label to ensure no hassle from security.
  • Cold medicine (SEALED)
  • Vitamins
  • Emergen-c or airborne
  • Cotton swabs
  • Sunscreen
  • Lotion
  • Razor for shaving needs
  • Condoms (if you don’t mind dirty festival sex)
  • Hair brush, clips, ties, bobby pins, headbands
  • Something to share
