Fresh out of the Berkleee College of Music and armed with a penchant to expanding his own sound, one of our favorite bedroom DJs, Adessi, has dropped a collaborative remix with fellow DJ Osz, of Usher’s “Crash”. Did we mention it’s one of his recent “dips” into the Trap genre?
While we can expect Adessi to produce catchy house numbers (whose tracks and production values have lined pop and other artists alike), this track contains the normal grace he normally lays down his synths, but instead have possessed a more aggressive bassline.
This track almost acts as an “initiation” to the genre by still containing his love of strong melody mixed with heavy house influences found in his past work.
Although you see his name in the title, don’t be surprised if you don’t feel as strong of an “Usher” vibe as you thought you would. Although the song used for the base of the remix was indeed a Pop/RnB artist, Usher’s vocals are shredded to another level and features layers to the original track that brings out a different emotion.
Regardless of the #Trap signifier, Adessi’s Crash remix has plenty of melodic synths to soothe you from some of the harder features in the beginning and gives a sense of familiarity to his growing style. Matched with the cooings of what you thought could never be Usher, the versatility of the track makes you wish it could go on longer.
The house elements in the track are of course the most dominant influence. Adessi always seems to have one ear to the radio stations, attempting to take both popular and underground songs, and forming the track into the direction of something extremely catchy yet not without its intelligent design. Maybe pop music for adults? Probably a strange concept for most, but Crash by Usher is definitely a very recent hot pick that should get some mean coverage in due time.
