Kevin Kinembe‘s single, ‘Dunda,’ is out today on Carrillo Music Group, making waves following a remix of his ‘CERA,’ reaching #1 on the Beatport Afro-House Top 100 and gaining support from heavyweights like Black Coffee, Thabo Tonick, and Drumetic Boyz on his upcoming release. On ‘Dunda’ KC reflects on the sound design,Â
“‘Dunda’ started with the rhythm. I wanted a heavy, driving low-end combined with syncopated tribal percussion that instantly grabs your attention. From there, I brought in the melodic foundation a signature piano line, which is a staple element you’ll find running through most of my tracks. Combined with atmospheric synth layers and the hypnotic spoken-word narrative, the whole production was about stacking layers of energy around that rhythm and keys until the breakdown, creating a release that feels both relentless and soul-driven.
Ableton Live is the heart and soul of my studio setup, together with my midi controller and Push 3. For ‘Dunda,’ I relied heavily on dynamic audio processing  and a lot of VST’s tools to shape the tribal percussion and give it that analog weight and punch needed for large sound systems. I love mixing warm, organic acoustic percussion samples with tight, synthetic sub-bass within Ableton to create that modern Afro Tech drive.”
While producing the release Kevin Kinembe has been playing around the globe with a recent festival performance at Bohemian Dream.Â
Kinembe also recently kicked off DJ George’s 60th birthday celebration at the Château d’Attre castle in Belgium. For now he is setting the vibe with a high-energy afro house and afro tech. Kinembe’s artistry is shaped by years spent in Kenya, where he developed a deep understanding of rhythm and culture.
His work often features collaborations with Kenyan singers and songwriters, bringing the organic soul of East Africa to the global electronic stage. Releases like ‘CERA’ and ‘Dunda’ reflect his commitment to going to the end to blend African roots with contemporary electronic influences.
Kinembe’s swift rise to #1 on the Beatport Afro-House Top 100 with AkpaLa‘s remix of ‘CERA’ is a significant milestone, enough to call for a new photo shoot. The Planet Ibiza Music overtook the previous title holder, Defected In The House Ibiza 2025. “The journey from 15 to the very top in just a few days happened because of your incredible support,” he added, dedicating this achievement to his family and fans.
As a producer and DJ, Kinembe’s sound thrives at the intersection of afro house, atmospheric melodic house, organic house, and downtempo. His performances have all the right intentions, to create immersive experiences. Having played at venues across Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Kenya, and Tanzania, Kinembe continues to share a unique cross-cultural story through his music.
