Hi Tony Kay, how are you?
I’m doing good, thanks for asking.
You recently launched your weekly radio show ‘In the Mix’, can you tell us what inspired you to start your own show?
‘In The Mix’ is my weekly radio show, where I share my unique and global perspective of Electronic music, which I personally refer to it as House music. A truly refreshing take on House music, that aims to shine a light to fresh new sounds from all over the world. I’m pushing the boundaries of House music today, including all time classics. Fiercely focusing on that deep Tech House sound.Every new episode, I’m bringing the latest releases from new artists, some of my favorite tracks as well as a selection of my own original productions. I’m here to spread good vibes and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoy making it.
What genres of music can listeners expect on the show?
House, Tech House, Deep House maybe some Afro House, but definitely no EDM, Big Room etc.
What sets ‘In the Mix’ apart from other radio shows?
My passion for House music shines through each episode. I have new music every week not only from known artists but also new ones. The most important thing is the energy I set through each show. Honestly, it’s quite spectacular, and the best way to describe what sets ‘In The Mix’ apart from all the other shows is the music selections and my personal mixing style.
What do you look for in a track to add it to an episode of ‘In the Mix’?
Well, most tracks nowadays sound very similar to each other, and that makes it quite difficult to find new music. I have a specific groove and rhythm that I set out for each episode, then start searching and previewing track after track until I find the ones that I see fit. Sometimes, I look for those Minimal tracks so I can later add certain elements to them such as vocals, percussions and mashup with other tracks while I’m DJing. As I told you earlier, it’s all about that good vibe and feel-good energy.
Would you like to have some special guests on the show? If so, who would it be?
Yes of course, Franky Rizardo, Amine K, Dennis Cruz, Cee El Assaad, Mochakk, Michael Bibi, just to name a few.
What would you like to achieve with the show?
I want to use it as a platform to showcase talented DJs and artists from around the world and the best of House music.
How would you describe ‘In the Mix’ to someone who hasn’t listened to it yet?
If you’re into House music, this show is absolutely not to be missed. And if you’re not, tune in next episode and discover a whole new world.
Aside from working on your show, what other things do you have going on at the moment?
I’m currently working on some new music, I have some tracks already lined up for release in the next couple of weeks.
