On his dramatic new single “Remember,” German beatmaker Thomas Gold tells a tale of love-at-first-rave. “Just wake me up before the sun delivers the light / I want your eyes to follow mine,” sings co-writer Kaelyn Behr, as Gold builds massive crescendos of pulsating synths and arpeggiated strings.
In the track’s literally transportive music video, a handful of unsuspecting strangers are beamed to a wild Gold concert while riding a mystical EDM elevator. “The song is based around the theme of a couple experiencing a night they’ll remember forever,” Gold tells Rolling Stone. “For this video, we wanted to create a twist on reflecting on the past summer’s great memories. All I can say is I’d love to ride in that elevator!”
Gold has been on quite a ride lately: Last June, the Berlin native released the compilation LP Axtone Presents Thomas Gold. He made it to Number One on the electronic music store Beatport with the track “Sing 2 Me,” and he also earned more than 15 million views for his remix of Adele’s 2011 ballad “Set Fire to the Rain.
