This upcoming New Year’s Eve, South Lake Tahoe is once again getting taken over by SnowGlobe Music Festival.
Going on its fourth year now, SnowGlobe is unique among its festival brethren for the way it combines the magic of music festivals with the mystique of the winter holidays.
A 3-day festival taking place on the 29th-31st of December, SnowGlobe has returned with yet another stellar lineup of artists.
Located at South Lake Tahoe Community College, this winter wonderland is going to be one to remember.
The roster of artists curated represents a wide variety of styles, providing a festival experience fans of all kinds can come together and enjoy.
For all you house lovers out there, there are several genres to keep you grooving through the crisp winter air. Whether it’s electro house with Zedd, Porter Robinson, or OVERWERK; deep/tech house with Disclosure, Justin Martin, Anna Lunoe, or Justin Jay; funky house with Snakehips, Classixx, or Le Youth; even a little tropical house with Thomas Jack, there’s these and more to satisfy all your four-to-the-floor needs.
House isn’t all there is to listen to though.
Get down to some fat trap tunes from the likes of Bro Safari, Tincup, Branchez, and Party Favor. Looking for more of the future bass/beats side? Flume, What So Not, Odesza, Djemba Djemba, and Trippy Turtle have you covered. Dubstep lovers get a couple heavyweights in Flux Pavilion and Skrillex. There’s some live music such as Emancipator and Phantogram, and even a little hip-hop with Atmosphere making an appearance.
No matter what you prefer to dance the chill away too, SnowGlobe has you covered.
Music isn’t the only attraction SnowGlobe provides. A large section of the festival will be dedicated to showcasing a variety of artists and the incredible art they’ve put together in the last year.
When you need a breather from the main attractions you can take a stroll through the galleries that will be set up, and if you have some extra cash on hand you can arrange to purchase some of the pieces later. You can check out the artists that will be featured at the festival on SnowGlobe’s Facebook page, as they will be slowly revealing the artists and their work as the festival gets closer.
Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area is famous for the variety of world-class ski resorts within easy reach.
If you find yourself needing a change of pace from the partying schedule, hitting the slopes at one of these locations like SnowGlobe partner Heavenly Resort is a great way to blow off steam and enjoy the incredible natural beauty that is Lake Tahoe.
On December 29th and 30th, the festival will be running from 2:00pm to 11:pm, and on the 31st it will run from 2:00pm to 1:00am. For some people, this is not nearly enough time to dance as much as you want. Fortunately SnowGlobe has you covered, with official afterparties taking place every night after the festival.
There are 4 separate afterparties taking place on each of the first 2 nights, with each party featuring several artists based around a particular style.
The variety of choices means there is an afterparty for everyone instead of trying to shoehorn several contrasting artists all into one event. There is only one afterparty available for those who want it on New Years, but with world class talent like What So Not, Cherub, and Trippy Turtle it’s still guaranteed to be a great time. The afterparties start at 11:30pm, and you can grab your tickets from the SnowGlobe site.
3-day passes for the festival have sold out but single day tickets can still be bought from the SnowGlobe website. In addition, shuttle passes are available that will take you to and from the Montbleu Casino and Resort for easier access to your lodging location. There are also parking spaces available for reservation for the duration of the festival near the college for those who would prefer to drive.
With such a variety of music, amazing artwork, and grand natural splendor for a backdrop, SnowGlobe is an experience unlike any other music festival.
There is a certain magic that permeates the crisp winter air during the show, a feeling of excitement and life that one gets from the environment as much as the festival vibes. We guarantee once you go your first time you’ll be hooked for life, and it’ll be the first thing you mark on your calendar for the new year.
