Hi Sander Wilder! How’s it going?
Hey there, I’m quite good thank you for asking. Thank you very much for giving me this interview opportunity.
To begin with, can you start by telling us how you find the motivation to create? What inspires your creativity?
It is more as an inner desire of putting my creativity at work, and the feeling I have when I create something is quite unique, knowing that from a ‘blank page’ there is a whole journey made that tells a story in a few minutes. Anything and everything can be an inspiration, life events, moments, trips, other music artists.
What do you do to get your creativity flowing?
My creative process can be quite random, there is no defined path. Sometimes, I just make an initial beat/loop with some instruments which continues to evolve as I go, sometimes I’m just playing around with controller keyboard, some solo acoustic piano riffs and at some point, something triggers a potential starting idea and I’m starting from there.
Do you ever find it difficult to be creative? If so, what do you do to overcome this and get into the creative mindset?
Yes, creative process is not a continuous one, there are quite good times and then periods when I don’t have that much inspiration, and get involved in technical aspects of music production or optimizing my workflow. I don’t try to force anything in moment, usually I know that at some point life experiences will trigger creativity again.
What was the last thing that inspired one of your tracks?
For ‘Into The Abyss’ a trip to sea side in the summer gave me a good trigger and feeling for producing the track.
Are there any other creative activities outside of music, like painting or photography, that you enjoy doing?
Photo & Video editing if is necessary, which is somehow related to music. I like making photos but not as a professional with a pro camera, but who knows in the future.
What do you do to wind down after you’ve been busy in the studio?
Usually going out, remaining physically active, maybe some nature trips, having fun in the weekends.
What keeps you motivated and inspired?
Having a life with different experiences, quite spontaneous at times, calmer in other moments, with a full schedule and many changes in last years, somehow is like a full glass which needs to be emptied and the content of it is my inspiration for music making.
When do you feel most inspired to create? Is there a particular time of day that you feel more motivated?
There is not a specific point in the day, but usually in the afternoon, sunset and at night, are the most usual moments.
Finally, do you ever find inspiration from other creative sources, like literature or movies?
Mostly from movies especially if they have an intense scoring music, I happen to have had some good ideas inspired from movies’ soundtracks.
