Hello Cammora! How are you?

I am very well, thank you!

To start, how do you find the motivation to create? What inspires your creativity?

My motivation to create if a blend of personal passion and the world around me. I am deeply inspired by emotions and experiences of my life, but I also draw a lot of inspiration from other artists and genres. Listening to a wide range of music and genres sparks new ways of thinking about my own music, which keeps my work dynamic and interesting. The excitement of exploring new sounds and techniques also plays a big role in fuelling my creativity.

Do you ever find it difficult to get your creativity flowing? If so, what do you do to get into the creative mindset?

Yes, sometimes I find it challenging to get my creativity flowing. I guess it is something that every artist of every craft must endure. Creativity is not like an on/off switch! I have different ways to help myself get into the creative mindset. What is usually working for me is taking a break from production, stepping back, and listening to completely different genres of music. More often than not, it opens new avenues of creativity. On the other extreme, I might get off music completely for a while, and engage into a completely different activity, like going on a short trip, or playing a video game. Whatever helps my mind to relax and reset. Lastly, collaborating with other artists can be incredibly inspiring. It allows me to see different perspectives and approaches to music, which can ignite my creative juices!

What was the last thing that inspired your creativity and influenced one of your productions?

Browsing through my favourite songs from my teen years, I stepped on Sonique’s “It Feels So Good”. Few months later, my take on this masterpiece was released!

Are there any other creative activities that you enjoy outside of music?

Definitely! I enjoy writing, putting down ideas and personal thoughts. I also like ‘collecting’ quotes from other readings, lyrics, whatever gets my attention for whatever reason. In extent, I enjoy reading too! Nature activities are also must for me; hiking, mountain biking, desert driving, you name it. As long as it involves natural environments, I am up for it!

How do you wind down after a busy day producing music?

Oh, these days…! What I usually do after such long, hectic sessions, is sit down in complete silence and try to relax with a drink and a cigar. At that point, I don’t want any audio or visual triggers. Other times I might take my car and drive around the city, with the radio off. Simple stuff!

What about your working environment do you think helps you to create? How have you created a space that is particularly inspiring to you?

My home studio is like a music sanctuary and a man-cave at the same time! On the one side of the room, I have my collection of vinyl records, my audiophile turntable, and speakers, sided by my collection of cigars and limited-edition bourbons. On the other side, is my production station with all the hardware goodies etc. I have a very comfortable office chair and an even more comfortable modular sofa. On the walls I have hanged some of my all-time favourite albums. The way everything is set, and the content of that room is ‘talking’ music and creativity for me. I just love being there!

Do you have any advice for staying creatively motivated?

Don’t limit yourself when listening to music. Explore alternative genres and push the boundaries of your listening habits. You will be surprised by what this can do for your creativity.

Are you inspired by any other creative sources outside of music, such as films or art?

Definitely. Films are sources of inspiration due to their combination of visual storytelling, character development, and often, a compelling musical score. The way a story unfolds on screen, the director’s vision, and the cinematography can all spark creative ideas. Similarly, art, in its many forms, is another profound source of inspiration. Whether it’s classical paintings, modern installations, or digital art, each piece tells a story or conveys emotions in a unique way. The use of colours, shapes, and textures in visual art can influence how I think about the structure and mood of a musical piece. Literature, photography, theater, and even everyday experiences also play a role in fuelling creativity. A book’s narrative, a photograph’s capture of a moment, the live energy of a theatrical performance, or simply observing people and nature can all contribute to the creative process.

The beauty of inspiration is that it’s not confined to a single domain. It’s an interplay of experiences, senses, and emotions, drawn from the vast canvas of the world around us.

When do you feel most inspired to create? Is there a particular time of day that you tend to be more in the creative mindset?

Usually at night, I am in a more creative mindset. The world is quiet, distractions are minimal, and the late hours can create a sense of isolation and introspection that fuels creativity. As our interview with Cammora comes to a close, we’ve had the opportunity to gain insights into his creative journey and the factors that drive his music.
