Remembering Big Makk: A Legend In Florida’s Dance Music Scene

This past weekend, news broke out that the influential Orlando-based DJ and producer Samisoni Koroitamudu aka Big Makk passed away.

At the young age of 25, he was signed to Mad Decent, changed Orlando’s dance music scene through his weekly Shake ‘N Bass Events, and was even scheduled to play EDC Orlando this November.

The support from artists and fans has been overwhelming, proving that the dance music scene is a tight-knit collective of those who promote positivity.

From those who were closest to him, to those that barely knew him, his passing signified a major loss to the hearts of loved ones and to the dance music world as a whole.

Artists that were lucky enough to know him only had good things to say about him, and made a point of saying that he always made them feel comfortable and welcomed whenever they came to Orlando.

Seeing the whole dance music community come together to pay their respects to this wonderful man is beautiful. The day of his passing, a GoFundMe page was posted to cover the funeral costs for his family and has already reached the goal of $20,000 with some of the top donations coming from Trap NationBrillzValentino KhanMarshmello, and more.
