Two ambitious underground projects out of LA, Shadow Wulf and Soulestial Carnival has traveled earth gathering inspiration. From techno scenes in India, Saudi Arabia, Australia, throughout Europe and the heart of the jungle of Mexico with one of the Founders of Ometeotl Festival, Kleiman, as the special performance of the collaboration’s recent affair, Darkside III.
Making the lineup complete was Los Angeles’ led psy-tech manufacturer, Crescendoll, as well as Shadow Wulf co-founders Drew Blyther and Aaron Jacobs, plus a charged closing set from Soulestial resident and Sunday Sanctuary co-founder, Contessa UV.
Harping on the darkside, the dance floor rallied all-night-long from a deep and majestically gripping, rare selection of psy-tech, dark minimal, deep tech and progressive house. This dark style of music is great for getting some thinking done and dare say, to reach some sort of enlightenment. “Where there is darkness, there is light.”

Capturing glimpses of the light from the lasers in the room and the energy of the night was Dan Burton Photography. The darkness felt right as rain, no excess, just tight music. To come across tracks these artists were playing from “artists whos names shall remain untold” is to catch a wahoo or blue marlin.
People stateside can catch more of the Ometeotl Festival vibes when they host a stage during the upcoming Texas Eclipse at Reveille Peak Ranch presented by Symbiosis and global community of collectives on April 5-9.
While Shadow Wulf and the sister label Wülfpack will continue to releasing records and curating experiences at the forefront of dance music.
As for Soulestial Carnival, the collective of thinkers, believers, doers, philosophers, clowns, jesters, magicians, and mystics, that all started with intimate backyard sessions in DTLA, they will be hosting festivals such as their recent Shake Lasta and Soul2Soul, a monthly residency at Paper Tiger in K-town, rooftop parties and specially curated balls or events, plus releasing records under the newly established Soulestial Records.
