Paper Diamond is a name more and more people in the electronic dance music family are familiarizing themselves with.
Alex Botwin (aka Paper Diamond) is a producer from Colorado who signed with Pretty Lights Music in 2010. When it comes to A&R, the family at PL Music know have some of the finest tuned ears in the industry and this was just the catalyst Paper Diamond needed to start rapidly gaining a following. Beginning in 2012, we’ve seen Paper Diamond perform at some of the top festivals including Coachella and Electric Forest Festival, and countless others before kicking off his tour in September of that same year.
Long overdue, Paper Diamond recently released his schedule for the Rain Drops North American Tour kicking off in Birmingham at the start of the new year.
Fortunately enough for us, we got to catch him play Havoc Thursdays, at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California on November 20.
His opening support, Ghastly and Sullivan King set the tone in proper fashion, dropping some crazy beats that had everyone’s blood pumping. Sullivan King didn’t hold back when it came to entertaining his audience as he would whip out his guitar and play some unheard of chords to support his beats.
Of course, once everyone began seeing the set change start with the switching of the lights, fans began to get excited for Paper Diamond’s set. Paper Diamond came out playing some catchy tunes with all lights out except some faint blue lights in the back. This was the casual lead up to his unforgettable light shows combined with over-sized balloons and confetti.
Let’s just say Paper Diamond made an unforgettable night for all in attendance with filthy remixes and an extensive sneak peak into his imminent Rain Drops EP.
Check out his tour dates here and be sure to catch him at one of his next shows. You can also catch Paper Diamond performing at the largest New Year’s Eve festival – Decadence 2015 – in Denver as well as coast-to-coast on his Rain Drops tour. Trust us when we say you won’t be disappointed.
