Moogfest – Asheville’s Premiere Collaborative Gathering – to Switch to Biennial Event Format

Moogfest has announced plans to move the festival, which brings musicians, inventors, engineers, futurists, ethicists, visual artists and their fans together over the course of five days, to a biennial format. With more than 20 venues utilized and streets shut down during the event, it is without a doubt that the 2014 gathering was a success.

After a successful relaunch from April 23-27, the Asheville based gathering will reconvene in 2016.

The reasoning behind such a decision does not lie within concerns of financing, although investors lost $1.5 million dollars in 2014, but in hopes of maintaining the authenticity of the event while having adequate time to plan a truly special experience. President & CEO of Moog Music Mike Adams cites that:

Producing Moogfest every other year allows us to retain the high level of innovative programming as well as the originality and independence we established in 2014.

‘This future-forward version of Moogfest is in its infancy,’according to Emmy Parker, Brand Director of Moogfest and Moog. ‘It will take some time for it to grow, but it’s clear that people want an unadulterated ideas-based festival that combines new art, music and technology. Moogfest is a personification of the Moog ethos and we’re honored to dedicate a full two years for curating each festival, with a sustainable, long-term plan for maintaining this platform for all those who share our passion.

Named in honor of music innovator Bob Moog, founder of the Moog synthesizer, Moogfest is looking to continue to bring together thousands of creative contributors for the years to come.
