Mysteryland main stage     VS.    EDC Main Stage

Memorial Day Weekend Festival Madness – New York

Free spirits will be roaming all over the tristate area this MDW. From the beautiful woods of upstate to the suburbs of New York City, love will be in the air and EDM will rule the electric sky. New York and New Jersey will be the stage for two of the world’s biggest EDM gatherings of our times.

Mysteryland: Bethel Woods, New York

In one corner, one of the oldest music festival grounds – Bethel Woods – will be hosting the first Mysteryland in the US. Some tie this event to the 1969 Woodstock music festival. For years many have tried to acquire permission to host an event in the hallowed grounds that were once the stage to the roots of our modern day music culture. A break through was made when ID&T were finally granted permission to do so. Armed with that background, this event promises to be nothing less than magical. Running from May 23-26, this event might have an upper hand against the two days its counterpart will be running. Being a 21+ event might be a barrier to those underage but those of age get to enjoy up to four days of camping grounds with beautiful history. These “modern day hippies” will be look forward to taking a ride in a time machine and always trying to spread the same message that was dominant in the late 60s historical event. Never the less every event attracts its own crowd based on its lineup, not the universal message of our culture.

In the other corner, a powerhouse in the US EDM scene since the late 90s, Mr. Rotella’s Insomniac Events will be featuring their 3rd year Electric Daisy Carnival in the north east. The respectively new Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey will be the mecca where “Headliners” will flock to this MDW. This 18+ event will be accessible to more festival goers than  its counterpart in the upstate woods. This has proven to be an edge over its competitors in regards to ticket sales over the past few years. Although its still in the works, the EDC lineup has many talking and asking for more mainstream names. Regardless, ticket sales have not stopped and seems like this will be another successful year for Rotella in the north east on the “road to Vegas”.
