With the City of Long Beach behind their back, world-renowned sound systems and artists from labels such as All Day I Dream, Desert Hearts, Anjunadeep and Crosstown Rebels the Love Long Beach Festival crew is permeating the underground culture with prowess. Reported by Sky, the social media manager for LLB, there was 4,000 plus in attendants on Saturday at the Shore Line Aquatic Park with standout artists like DJ Sneak, Porky, Rinzen, Anton Tumas, Josh Kwon and Öona Dahl on the decks, and the festival could not have been pulled off any more legit.
Three stages keep the magic alive all weekend long, with live performances at the StarGate stage, heavy bass influence at the Noise stage and proper house and techno at the Subtract stage, while Harmonic Destination and Cheese House Rekords hosted much appreciated local talent and OM Chanting offering warming ritual harmonies by Bhakti Marga and family, who are building a healing temple and hosting ceremonies near the concrete jungle.
The Love Long Beach Festival 2023 was a magical collaboration as Alfredo’s Beach Club handled the main event infrastructure, and delicious food and beverages, Subtract Music took charge of the music lineup, the Healing Arts Village was in the hands of the Long Beach Light Tribe and a special shout of to the Galactivators (as seen on America’s Got Talent) who ran the Rybo Bus. As we showed up early on Saturday to catch Josh Kwon‘s vibey set that still has us moving with his selection that included, ‘Don’t Turn it off’ (Session Victim Remix), it was dramatic to see the influx of people that brought LLB the mayhem of a full-fledged festival by the end of the day.
The lineup was amazing, but may have gone under the radar for the untrained eye. Notable acts we caught for the first time were Sunshine Jones (Live), Tara Brooks, Doc Martin, Öona Dahl, Orangekemist, Davi, DJ Dan and the unforgettable Bass Waffle Takeover: Circadian Riff, Kimothy Leary, Pastry. and Peewee. While Celestial Seraphim presented “The Great PRAYERforMANce” and brought the scared fired at the base of the lighthouse.
Keeping the day interesting on Sunday was the official after party with a Founder of the festival, Anton Tumas and SoCal favorite Doc Martin putting on marvelous melodic and progressive house sets on a glorious sound system that made our third-eye jiggle as we took in the scenic bridge view, a true underground experience on Queen’s Wharf of Long Beach. In a collaborative effort between Visuals by G, Stop it Shutter, Leonard Donjuan and Nicholas K Hess we bring you our exclusive photo tour of Long Long Beach Festival 2023.
