Helpful Tips for First-Time EDM Concert Goers

So you’re about to go to your very first EDM concert… congrats! It’s going to be wild, colorful, and way, way louder than you expect. I still remember my very first EDM concert, and I’m grateful that I had someone who gave me tips on what to expect, because honestly, it would have been overwhelming without a little guidance.

Now that I can consider myself an experienced EDM concert goer, I’m here to share with you what would’ve made my first show even better. And yes, my tips include workarounds for your wireless service in crowded spots. Let’s start!

  • Dress for comfort and fun

You’re going to be moving a lot. Dancing, jumping, spinning around, and more with the crowd so it’s important that you’re comfortable. Skip the tight jeans or fancy heels (unless you feel like it). If you’re not there for the OOTD, go for comfy sneakers and breathable clothes. You can even throw in slow LED accessories, glow sticks, or anything that makes you feel festival-ready. It’s all part of the fun, so don’t worry!

  • Arrive really early

This has always been my mantra, and it has always worked wonders for me (and anyone who comes with me, of course). Getting there early means you can pick a good spot and you get time to check out the venue, find the bathrooms, grab some merch, and just soak in the pre-show energy. If you’re worried about waiting around, just don’t. You just need to bring a little snack, chat with friends, and enjoy the anticipation. If you have good cell phone service, you can also snap pics and share them online.

  • Drink lots and lots of water

EDM shows can be intense. You’ll be on your feet, dancing, and soaking up all that energy from the crowd. So make sure you drink water before and during the show. If venues allow, make sure to bring your own tumbler because a lot of venues have refill stations, so take advantage of them instead of buying bottled water every now and then. You’re saving money while saving the planet!

  • Keep your connection strong

EDM concerts can get crowded pretty quickly, and mobile networks can slow down when everyone’s online, even though you have the best mobile internet provider. If you’re having a hard time, try moving to areas with better signal, like near entrances, elevated spots, or less crowded corners. You can also enable 5G if your phone supports it, use a portable WiFi/hotspot, or even bring a backup SIM.

  • Protect your ears

The music is LOUD, really loud. Earplugs are your best friend because they’ll let you enjoy the sound without leaving your ears ringing for days. Trust me on this one, even though you might find it unnecessary. It’s really a good buy, especially if you have sensitive ears or hearing. It won’t ruin your experience if that’s what you’re worried about.

  • Live in the moment

Sure, take a few photos or videos, but don’t spend the entire concert behind a screen. The best memories happen when you see and experience everything while you’re there. You don’t want to look back and realize you missed the energy and the drops because you were too busy filming. This happened to me once, and I made sure to never do it again.

Enjoy Your First EDM Concert

Your first EDM concert is going to blow your mind. By the end of the night, you might be tired and sweaty, but you’ll have a night to remember. So don’t worry too much and just enjoy the moment. Just make sure to keep these tips in mind and share them with your friends if you have to. Enjoy!
