Nothing helps me get through the long winters better than having Electric Forest to look forward to. 2017 brings us to the 7th chapter of Electric Forest at Rothbury, Michigan. Fortunately, this time we get the opportunity to immerse ourselves with world class music, art and spiritual experience over two weekends.
Electric Forest releases phase 1 of the 2017 lineup for both weekends. Let’s see if there is a theme that can be found around each weekend.
Will one weekend be more jammy than the other? What does it look like to you?
I see a lot of artists that get me giddy: The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, DJ Snake, Odesza, Lotus, Above & Beyond, NERO, Porter Robinson, Claude Vonstroke, and Thievery Corporation.
The Electric Forest Producers have a message for us in preparation for the weekends:
Together, we aim for a truly epic experience. A celebration of purpose to match these historic times. In the spirit of Electric Forest’s commitment to building and nurturing community, the festival posted a “Call to Action” along with the initial Electric Forest 2017 artist lineup announcement.
A glimpse of the 2017 Electric Forest “Call to Action” is:
Listen far and wide. Listen with fierce love. If you come to the Forest, then bring what YOU can offer. Bring what you have learned. We want to know you. Each day, we are one step closer to coming home again, and planting the seeds to make everywhere feel as open and as free as The Forest. -Electric Forest Producers

Tickets go on sale on November 29th. Last year tickets sold out within two weeks of their release, so having two weekends is crucial.
The decision for Madison House and Insomniac to add an additional weekend should help the evolution of the festival by allowing for more artistic ideas and opening up space for everyone to run a little more freely.
Diving deeper into the intricacies of the festival, the Electric Forest Curated Events have been announced as well. What this means is that each stage will have a family hosting it. The following is the list of artist collectives and production companies that will be hosting various stages:
Bassrush, Bird House, Foreign Family Collective, Her Forest, and Night Bass will host EF stages on the First Weekend. Bassrush returns for the Second Weekend, along with Crew Love, Future Classic, Hi-LO presents Heldeep, No Xcuses, and Turntablists. -Electric Forest Producers
You will find me getting down over at the Foreign Family Collective stage a good portion of the weekend, since they consist of Odesza, Big Wild, and friends that suit their style. I hope to meet you there.
