New York City’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine completed a 21-year study of senior citizens to determine if dancing has an influence on cognitive function, and the results are actually quite surprising.
As it turns out, dancing frequently has a serious effect on senior citizen’s risk for dementia, reducing the risk by as much as 76%.
In addition to that, frequent dancers reduce stress and depression and increase energy and serotonin in addition to already well-known benefits like regularly having the time of their lives. As it turns out, we’re not just roaming the dance floors searching for our bass fix because we like to party; we’re health nuts.
