Dim Mak Records SXSW Showcase to Celebrate Nearly Two Decades of Musical Innovation

Anyone holding onto the perception that Dim Mak Records is strictly electronic dance music is about have their misconceptions laid to rest when the Steve Aoki-founded label invades South by Southwest (SXSW) on Wednesday, March 18.

As part of the Austin Party Weekend and SXSW Music Showcase that runs from Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 22, the Dim Mak Records showcase will showcase the musical diversity of the forward-thinking record label.

After two decades of genre-pushing musical innovation that has predominanty gained notoriety among the EDM community with Steve Aoki at the helm, Dim Mak Records will provide a glimpse into future endeavors at their SXSW showcase.

Featuring a rare b2b2b vintage electro set with Steve Aoki and special guests, Dim Mak Records SXSW showcase will also highlight performances from SBCR (The Bloody Beetroots DJ set, Crookers, Little Boots, Lil Debbie, Will Brennan, and GITCHII as part of the IHEARTCOMIX’s Austin Party Weekend alongside major labels including Mad Decent, OWSLA and Fool’s Gold.

While this isn’t Dim Mak’s first run at SXSW, it is definitely shaping up to be the biggest to date.

Says Aoki:

After years of putting on our own Dim Mak official & unofficial showcases, we’re stoked to be part of our first Austin Party Weekend as we close in on our label’s 20th anniversary. We’re honored to have our showcase aligned with labels we have major respect for and homies we’ve come up with over the last two decades.

With A-Trak, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, and hundreds of the hottest names in electronic music all under one umbrella for the week, Austin, Texas is the place to be if you’re serious about your music.
