If you have seen Step Brothers with Will Farrell and John C. Reilly, you will understand the chemistry BUTTONZ and Garlic Party experienced during their studio sessions to produce ‘Cheese’, Grand Alliance Music‘s latest contribution.
“It felt like at some times we were finishing each other’s sentences with this track” says Garlic Party from Margaret River, Australia. BUTTONZ adds that this was “one of those tracks that just needed the right energy to bring it to life and I’d been following Garlic Party for a minute and really vibed with his style.”
This visceral track throws out the rule book, combining glitch-hop and hip-hop influences with funk-infused bass music, creating a sound that’s simultaneously playful, meticulously produced and peak-time worthy. The cleverly titled ‘Cheese’ references a term for money, delivering both sonic punch and tongue-in-cheek commentary.

On the release BUTTONZ can’t stop talking about the studio session with Garlic Party, “this is one of the most fun I’ve had on a song in recent memory. Working with people like Garlic Party represents what a collab really should be: fun, laid back and receptiveness in all the ways.”
So this is what happens when two of electronic music’s most playful minds team up from opposite sides of the world? You get ‘Cheese’—a glitchy, bass-heavy romp.
As we listen to this record lets dive down into the roots of this sound design, what experiences have stuck in these producers soul to formulate this sonic exploration. For Garlic Party its a whole bass music world with sets in the Millennium Falcon at Starship Trippers or at The Wild Campout, and most recently opening for OPIUO.

Allow Garlic Party to be your guide through the bush raves from the Valley Groove and Rain Dance to Blossom Festival. The bass is surging out there and these are the hot spots to find.

Meanwhile the Co-Founder of Grand Alliance Music, BUTTONZ was having outings like opening for Marvel Years at The Intersection in Grand Rapids and he just announced a set at Gem N’ Genetics festival in Michigan this June 13-15.
