In the midst of the explosion of electronic dance music, Audien (AKA Nate Rathbun) emerged from the small town of Mystic, Connneticut. He began creating music in 2008 in his small apartment with minimal equipment and the rest is history. While the rest of his friends were applying to college Nate was sending demos to producers, labels and bloggers. At the age of 17 a Dutch trance label called Flashover Recordings took hold of his sound and his first single “Rise and Shine” was released, changing his life forever.
Other labels soon became attracted to Audien’s melodic sounds.
He began remixing for some of the most prestigious labels in EDM including Spinnin, Armada and Anjunabeats which led to tracks becoming showcased on Beatport. Other artists also became interested in him with his music appearing on compilations like Tiesto‘s Club Life, Above and Beyond‘s Trance Around The World and Armin Van Buuren‘s A State of Trance.
Audien continued to release tracks in 2012, where he began evolving his tracks into progressive house. In just three years, he went from his apartment setup to the big stages of festivals like TomorrowWorld, EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Music Festival.
So where can you find him next?
Audien just finished ripping it up at Moonrise Festival in Baltimore, Maryland, dropping new tracks and turning the crowd in to a frenzy. Next up is Electric Zoo in New York at the end of August. Be sure to catch him. You will not regret it.
