Lil Nate Dogg, son of the legendary rapper Nate Dogg, is following in his father’s footsteps by pursuing music full-time. Coming from one of the pioneers of West Coast hip hop, music is in his soul and he’s looking to extend the family legacy even more.
Contrary to following the traditional hip-hop/rap approach, Lil Nate Dogg is paving his own way by combining different genres of music into his own. His recent endeavor is “The EDM Project”, a hybrid body of work that combines hip-hop and dance music into one.
We sat down with Lil Nate Dogg for his interview with DJ Co1 at Las Vegas’ 98.5 KLUC radio station to discuss his upcoming plans for 2016.
While keeping the legacy alive is at the forefront, being able to create something new entirely is very important to him. The EDM landscape is new, fresh, and has the potential of being explored, especially for rappers and hip-hop artists.
Lil Nate Dogg has yet to reach his full potential. Playing around with sounds and mixing genres is the beginning, and evolution is a lengthy process. While he enjoys both hip-hop and dance music, fusing them would be the perfect and unique way to set himself apart. “The EDM Project” was just the beginning for him; with massive plans in store for 2016, there’s no doubt that we’ll be hearing a lot more from him.
