Tragedy struck Ultra last year during set up when a huge panel of LED lights fell onto equipment technician, Joey Green, shattering his legs. As first reported by the Daily Business Review, a lawsuit was filed on February 10th according to Miami New Times.
Mr. Green is suing Ultra Music Festival and EDM superstars Swedish House Mafia.
The EDM trio are involved because it was their stage being erected when it collapsed. No word yet on the amount sued over.
Here is the YouTube video of the LED lights falling:
Unfortunately, with each lawsuit made against Ultra, the media brings up every other lawsuit involving the event to taint it with the proverbial black cloud.
What happened to Joey Green is tragic and I’m not trying to takeaway from that. Obviously, the sheer size of Ultra brings the likelihood of lawsuit against the festival a great deal higher than other festivals. Although steps are taken each year to ensure employee and festival goer safety, unfortunate circumstances and events take place, and with increasing attendance this will not change.
