In 2013, Tomorrowland sold out in an insane 1 second (literally). Expanding to two weekends, the 2014 edition held in Boom, Belgium
managed to hold on to its’ allocation a bit longer, nonetheless, selling out an astounding 360,000 passes in just under an hour.
With the additional success of the American version of the festival – TomorrowWorld – festival organizers are looking to expand.
In early 2013 brothers, festival organizers, and ID&T executives Manu and Michael Beers gave an interview to Dutch newspaper, De Tijd (The Times), disclosing aspirations to expand the festival to every continent on the globe.
It’s our ambition to organize a Tomorrowland on every continent. We have received requests for versions of Tomorrowland from all over the world… From rich Russians and Indians, to promoters in Australia, the US and South America. We will do it, but on our conditions, and only in places where we feel comfortable.
Having recently been purchased by SFX Entertainment, it is no surprise that ID&T is looking to expand. SFX, the largest global producer of live electronic dance music events and digital entertainment, announced that it would be investing over $1 billion dollars in acquisitions in the coming year.
TomorrowWorld Brazil
De Tijd is now reporting that Brazil could the next stop on the TomorrowWorld tour, as several people with the company are currently on location working on another project.
Spokeswoman for ID&T, Debbie Wilmsen, commented on the possibility of the Brazilian edition, stating that timing is impossible to give and that it is all contingent upon a quality location and meeting necessary conditions.
While the report is still unconfirmed, Brazil would serve as an ideal location with its’ vibrant dance culture.
With Ultra Music Festival announcing the addition of UMF Brazil, the South American country is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.
After announcing TomorrowWorld was coming to the United States, festival organizers were able to make the event come to fruition in just seven months.
