Drum and Bass – Revisiting 5 Timeless DnB Classics

Drum and Bass is a pretty big deal and one of my favorite genres, so I wanted to share just a few of my personal favorite tracks, listed in no particular order.

1. Nero – Solid Air ft Alana

Released in way back in May of 2008 you can tell see/hear that Nero has produced a really great track here.  Popular for his extremely huge hit ‘Promises’, this track serves as a reminder to look a little further back into artists’ previous work because it can always surprise you. ‘Solid Air’ runs just a little over seven minutes, and it’s filled with awesome vocals and a wonderful use of the violin. I’d recommend this one for a good jog. You’re bound to get a workout out of it. Their website is thisisnero.com , in which a cryptic message is posted consisting of a quick apology and a word of their second album coming soon.

Interesting…

2. Mampi Swift – Gangster

Initially dropped in 2012, this is one I can never listen to just once. The full track runs for about five minutes. Aside from the familiar drum and bass sound that can be found in a lot of songs, Mampi has added what sounds like conga drums which really brings something special to the track. Along with that comes the sound of something you can associate with a superhero or a rocket of sorts, speeding up and hitting unimaginable speeds. What I wouldn’t recommend is listening to this track while driving. It’s tempting to step on the gas. You won’t regret giving this a chance. Here is his Soundcloud.

3. Jessie J – Nobody’s Perfect (Netsky Remix)

If you’re looking for great drum & bass be sure to check Netsky out. You might recognize him for the wildly popular hit, ‘Come Alive’.  The Belgian artist has a wonderful array of music out ranging from remixes of big pop tracks to cool originals. His ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ remix is a treasure having racked up over twelve million views on the UKF Drum & Bass Youtube. For those of you who are familiar with the original song you know that Jessie J slaughters the vocals and this remix takes the song even further. The first time I heard it I honestly think I went in to shock. Recent news of Netsky can be found on his website. Head on over there if you’re interested, as he’s also announced his Spring 2014 tour.

4. Loadstar – Bomber

Loadstar kills it here. Released on RAM Records, this song is an actual party. If you have any strenuous activity planned ahead do yourself a favor and play this song. It really helps you put in the work. The British duo has an impressive list of songs out, one being ‘Drowning’, a track you can download for free if you sign up for their email database on their website. If the meager 2:00 minutes bums you out, rest assured that the full song available for purchase is 4:35 seconds, which is a whole lot of awesome. Their website is loadstar-music.com . Take a look!

5. Birdy – Wings (Nu:Logic Remix)

Nu:Logic is a marvelous collaboration between brothers Nu:Tone and Logistics, thus, Nu:Logic. Individually the brothers are amazing. Together the brothers are, well, amazing. It’s a win/win situation. They have a multitude of singles out along with a few remixes, one being this gem here. Birdy’s original ‘Wings’ track is beautiful, and this remix brings something amazing to an already wonderful song. This is another one that I keep on repeat and I wouldn’t be surprised if you did too. Check out more at nulogicmusic.com.

That’s it for now.

All of these are up for purchase and hopefully you enjoy them as much as I do.
